A little info about me
Sixth form has been a challenging but rewarding journey. I study Applied Science, Law, and Geography each pushing me in different ways. I’ve learned to manage my time, build independence, and think about the future. It’s not always easy, but I’ve grown a lot and feel more prepared for what comes next. Sixth form isn’t just about grades it’s about becoming who you want to be. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I’m excited for the road ahead.
A bit more detail about what im doing currently and my plans for the future

Life in the Sixth Form: My Journey
Hey! I’m Joshua , a sixth former in the UK, and this blog is all about my journey through sixth form - the challenges, lessons, and everything in between. It’s a time of major growth, and honestly? It’s shaping up to be one of the most important phases of my life so far.
Why I Chose Sixth Form
After finishing my GCSEs, I knew I wasn’t ready to leave education just yet. Sixth form felt like the right step forward - it gave me the chance to stay in an environment where I could grow academically while gaining more freedom and independence. I wanted to specialise in subjects that interested me, and sixth form offered that choice.
What I’m Studying
I currently study Applied Science, Law, and Geography - three subjects that challenge me in different but equally rewarding ways.
Applied Science is practical and career-focused. It’s not just about memorising facts; it’s about understanding how science works in real-life scenarios. From lab experiments to industry case studies, it prepares me for scientific careers in a way that feels real and hands-on.
Law is where I’ve learned to think critically and analytically. Every lesson opens my eyes to how the legal system functions and affects people every day. It’s empowering to learn about rights, justice, and how legal decisions shape society.
Geography gives me a global perspective. Whether it’s exploring urban inequality, climate change, or cultural diversity, I get to analyse the world around me and think about solutions to real issues affecting communities - locally and globally.
Managing Life and Workload
Balancing three demanding subjects isn’t easy, but it’s helped me build discipline, time management, and resilience. I’ve developed routines that include dedicated study time, self-care, and time to unwind - because mental health matters just as much as grades.
Outside of academics, I’ve gotten involved in activities that help me grow in other ways too, like volunteering, helping in school clubs, or exploring my hobbies.
Looking Ahead
The future is something I think about a lot - not in a panic kind of way, but with excitement. I’m currently exploring my options for university or higher apprenticeships, especially in fields connected to science, law, or geography. I’m working on building up experience, polishing my personal statement, and learning more about the industries I’m passionate about.
I might not know exactly where I’ll end up yet, but sixth form is helping me figure it out, one step at a time.
Final Thoughts
Being a sixth former isn’t always easy, but it’s definitely worth it. I’ve learned a lot - not just from books, but about myself. I’m proud of how far I’ve come and excited about where I’m heading.
Thanks for reading my blog. Whether you’re a fellow student or just curious, I hope this gives you a real glimpse into what sixth form life is like. If you’re on the same path - keep going. We’ve got this.
